Abstract
The history of the treatment and removal of pulps is one of great interest and no paper written on this subject would be complete without it, The earliest account of the treatment of exposed dental pulps occurs in the works of Robert Wooffendale, published in London in 1783. Mr Wooffendale resided in America from 1766 to 1768 returned to London and again returned to America in 1795 and practiced dentistry until his death in 1828. His methods were probably known and practiced here at least after his return to this country.
