Abstract
Gold has been sought by man for ages and has been used by him for the manufacture of ornaments, jewelry, and as a commodity of trade.
The dental profession recognizes its value in restorative work, and is showing a strong tendency to almost an exclusive use of this metal in dental needs. The prosthetic man uses gold as clasps, lingual and palatal bars, full dentures, and supports for braces in partial denture construction. The orthodontic man uses gold for separators, clasps, and bands. The operative dentist uses gold for filling materials, bridge construction, and crown restorations.
