Abstract

The heart in any animal, and especially in higher animals, is an important organ. It is the purpose of this paper to consider such an organ from the anatomical and physiological basis as it exists in the turtle.

The turtle was chosen as the subject for many reasons. The first one of these reasons was because the heart of the turtle closely.resembles the most complex of hearts in structure and action. The second was because the heart is quite typical of the members of Class Reptilia. The third reason was because the speciments are readily obtainable.
