Abstract

My purpose in this thesis is to show the contributions of reading to some or the other content subjects, particularly in the sixth and seventh grades. To so do it, I have consulted the leading authorities on both reading and study in order to make a complete survey of the material written on these subjects. I have recorded the main ideas of these authorities, and in most cases giving their direct quotations. In order to present the subject, it was necessary to particularly understand the nature of study, the objectives of reading, the relationship between study and reading, and the relationship which exists between the reading objectives and various school activities that involve reading.
