Abstract
The one big criticism of the use of newspapers in the writing of historical happenings is that the newspapers are unreliable. I grant that there are errors in the newspapers, but in my thesis, I say that some newspapers are of a historical value. In the first place I shall show that newspapers, as chronicle of facts, are valuable to historians and again the general makeup and the entire contents of newspapers are reflections of the physical, mental and moral conditions of the times. This matter I shall treat first. After showing the newspapers in this light, I shall try to illustrate the types of newspapers useful to the historians and lastly I shall compare the journalistic sources of history with other sources.
