Abstract
Of Tamayo y Baus it may be said as of the poets, that he was born and not made a dramatist. A friendly biographer, who lived in intimate relation with him, tells us that this great genius, like the gods or old, always appeared to him enveloped in a cloud. His actions were ever in conformity with his art-- even his death was as if practiced and rehearsed in anticipation, but on reading his critics we learn how very human was his life.
