Abstract
Nervousness is not, as it is commonly thought, a disease of the nerves from the physical point of view. It is rather a functional disorder affecting the patient as a whole, especially mentally. Nervousness may be described as an excessive activity of the nervous system, resulting in a peculiar type of response to the ordinary stimuli of life and showing itself in such symptoms as over activity, temper, irritability or restlessness.
