Abstract
The Middle Ages, although commonly called the Dark Ages, are probably the most interesting and intrigueing period of the history of the world. It was rich in learning as well as in adventure. It found the Holy Roman Church, whose history is more intrigueing than the history of any existing government today, changing the course of the history of the world in its intellectual as well as in its political phase.
