Abstract
The writer has made a study and a tabulation of the words found in the Baltimore Catechism, comprising one hundred twenty-five pages. The words and their frequency of appearance were listed and recorded on block paper. At the left hand side of the paper appeared the words and the top row indicated the number of pages of the entire book. After the completion of the tabulation of the words in the book, approximately six hundred ninety words appeared on the total list. From this list the words have been arranged as to their frequency of appearance. This arrangement has served as a guide for organizing these words into groups for the various grades according to their difficulty. The grouping of words has been based on the Diocesan Outline of Religion published by the Department of Education, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since the arrangement of the topics in the Course of Study runs parallel to the Catechism, the presentation of the words will give the pupil the respective items as they need them.
