Abstract
It is the aim of this thesis to give the chief events, in the life of Constantine the Great, from the time of his birth to the year 313, The Decree of Milan. An attempt has been made to supplement this history with a background of contemporary events in order to stress the importance of the various acts of Constantine. Included in this background is a description of the political changes within the Empire during the reign of Diocletian, and of the activities of the Augustus, Galerius. Included also, is a history of the life of Constantius Chlorus, the father of Constantine.
