Abstract
The Purpose of this thesis is to learn by studying the editorial contents of a certain number of selected college and university newspapers what is considered important news for those papers and what position Is given to the best news stories.
To gain this information three fields of such newspapers are studied. The thesis attempts to outline the news stories carried in each edition and to describe the subject handled in each of these stories. Also it tells what position each story occupied on the page, thus determining its relative news merit.
Further the study attempts to show generally what college editors consider the best news sources for their papers and what fields are served by the college newspapers. Both of these latter observations are based entirely upon the contents of the news stories carried in each of the various papers.
