Abstract

Progress along technical and scientific paths may be considered slow or rapid, depending upon the point of view taken. A survey of the artistic and technical achievements of the early Egyptians and Babylonians would lead one to believe progress to be rather slow. Yet, a consideration of the social scientific developments of the last century would lead one to deem progress as being very rapid. Unknown and perhaps unconsciously, progress is continually being made by that vast legion of unheralded scientists ·and technicians from which arise the notable authorities of the future.
