Abstract
In common with many of the lower animals man has the gregarious instinct. He is social by nature. Solitude is one of the conditions he fears. Man longs for the society of his fellows. A community of interests is the tie which binds the group together. The social instinct in man is manifested by his desire to communicate his thoughts to others. This Inclination has caused people of one nationality to settle in certain sections of a city or state. The use of a foreign language has kept alive in the heart of the immigrant, the love of his mother country and has often prevented him from becoming Americanized.
