Abstract
This essay is an attempt to set forth those ideas about and aids for audience reading that have been gained in classroom practice and observation. The needs for audience reading, the materials for use in that field, its preparation, and some observations on the work as it is carried out in the Milwaukee Public Schools are presented.
The views of leading educators in the field of reading have been quoted and presented in order that a comparison might be made between the Milwaukee practices and nation wide tendencies.
