Abstract
In this thesis the author has endeavored to construct a realistic study of the muscles of the domesticated dog. It has not been his purpose to discover anything new, but rather to make a complete study and outline of the more important muscles of the dog's hind limb.
For references the author has selected two widely known comparative anatomy books. In order that a more complete understanding be had of the muscles themselves, their morphology and physiology, and their orientation, the author also employed the use of several smaller texts of lesser renown. A list of the texts used can be found at the end of the paper. Without the aid of these texts, especially one in particular, the writing of this thesis would have been futile. The terminology used and names given the muscles are those accepted by comparative anatomists the world over. The author has relied upon "The Anatomy of Domestic Animals" by Sisson as his main source of information.
