Abstract
One of the noteworthy developments of the last decade is a keener appreciation of the importance of intelligent reading in social life. It is an indispensable means of familiarizing adults with current events, with significant social issues, with community and notional problems, and with American institutions, ideals, and aspirations, It is essential also in attaining vocational efficiency, in broadening one's range of general information, and in securing pleasure and profit during leisure hours.
