Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to collect and investigate material in order to determine the evolution of the didactic books of manners written by two authors of the middle of the 16th century, namely: "The Scholemaster" written by Roger Ascham, and "Euphues" written by John Lyly, to analyze their functions as didactic works in the literary field, to determine their influence upon literary successors, also to reveal their influence upon the people of the time, their idea of a gentleman. In short, the object of this thesis is to show that these two books were of a pedagogical nature and as such enjoyed a wide circulation with a corresponding response to it didactic influence.
