Abstract
In writing this thesis the author is endeavoring to determine the actor’s social status as the theatre has developed. Taking into consideration the outstanding steps in the general stride of theatrical progress, the author has attempted to prove that as the theatre itself becomes degenerate, as audiences desire low forms of spectacle, the actor is not respected.
