Abstract
Fumaric acid, an unsaturated acid, condensed with diethylene glycol forms diethylene glycol fumarate, a resinous product of high molecular weight. This reaction is typical of condensation reactions. Since this is only the first step in making suitable finished products, the author wished to make a study of the preparation and properties of this condensation product and determine which of the known polymerizing agents were best suited for practical use .
