Abstract
It is the purpose of this thesis to show that Cicero had a carefully developed belief in immortality. Since there is little opportunity in constructing a thesis of this kind to set forth any new or startling data concerning the subject, there is left to the writer only the originality of thought and presentation. So much commentary has been written on Cicero that it would be impossible to contact all of it . It may be said, however , that since Cicero has been known throughout the ages mostly as an orator and statesman, less has been written concerning his philosophical works. The writer has selected from the commentaries on the philosophy of Cicero those which were most pertinent to the thesis .
