Abstract
For over three hundred years, the plays, the life, and the character of William Shakespeare have been the subject of discussion wherever men of literary taste congregate. There have been thousands of volumes written about him; there has been argument pro and con concerning nearly every phase of his existence. Much is conjecture; much is theory; some is fact; nearly all is a matter of personal opinion. There is question even of the author ship of the works attributed to Shakespeare. Some say that a man with as little education as Shakespeare received could not have written the plays as we have them.
