Abstract
Why do same people smile and look blank at the mention of the study of art? Why do they look at art teachers as though they were in a class by themselves, as though they must be a queer lot? There 'is nothing unusual, nothing aristocratic about art, because art is life itself. If it is not a live thing it has failed to be art. Think of' the works of art in music, painting, and sculpture that have lived on down through the ages, and will continue to live on and on. A great man once said, "That all passes, a.rt alone endures". True art has a really spiritual quality, the development of which all human beings should be eager to gain. It is uplifting, it is the heart of industry, and the most practical and democratic of all studies .
