Abstract

In exploring human nature as a whole, we are rather surprised to find that despite the centuries which have rolled by, human nature remains quite the same. Evolutionists may possibly contradict this statement in asserting that the weathering process of the centuries has produced a mellowing effect, and that the world is a much better place to live in now than it had been thirty centuries ago. That may or may not be true, all, of course, depending on the method and terms used in defining progress and uplift. If by progress we mean complicated society and intricate ma chines, then no doubt we have made- a good deal of progress. But if we mean a general uplift, greater satisfaction and contentment, then we have serious reasons for wrinkling our brow in question mark form and expressing our doubt.
