Abstract
Thyroid hormones are stored within the thyroid gland as part of the glycoprotein, thyroglobulin, and the release of these hormones into the general circulation requires the digestion of thyroglobulin by proteolytic enzymes. The present study had as its objectives the purification of one of these proteolytic enzymes (thyroid protease), and the determination of its specificity.
