Abstract

The child of today cannot visualize his home without a TV. Television has become a part of the child's life. Recent studies show that as many as four to five hours are spent daily in televiewing. Televiewing is replacing other activities that children would be participating in. Closely linked with this problem of televiewing is the impact that TV has had on the interests of the child. One of the problems about which parents and educators are deeply concerned is the relationship between televiewing and leisure reading. Many believe that the interests of the child has caused a decline in the number of books read by children. This is not only the concern of the parents and educators, but the public as well.
