Abstract
In this short paper, written as an assignment in History 235 at Marquette University during this summer session of 1955, I have endeavored to give an account of the struggle that went on for fifteen years between the meekest man of his time and the most powerful and most warlike emperor of all ages, Pope Pius Vll and Napoleon Bonaparte. From my study and research of the history of this period, I have come to the conclusion that the description of these two men given above is correct and justifiable. Pius Vll and Napoleon entered public life together and the story of their parallel roles is a study of conflict and contrast.
