Abstract
In this paper an attempt is made to study the growth and development of Indian National ism up to 1922 and its effort under the able leadership of Mahathma Gandhi to throw off the British yoke and win independence for India. A further attempt is made to present in detail the causes of Indian Nationalism, the merits and demerits of British rule in India, the foundation of Indian National Congress and its activities.
