Abstract

Conscientious teacher training institutions in the United States today have a great responsibility in improving the standards of teacher training. The acceptance of low standards for teachers 'Will not only :mean poorer teaching, but will also point toward a poorer America. Good teaching depends on good teachers; good teachers are the result of good preparation. Competent and capable teachers are ever more necessary due to the demand for teachers brought about by increased school enrollments and attaining our national, mankind potential. Teacher training institutions must investigate their own provisions for turning out efficient and prepared teachers. In an ever moving and changing society, teacher training institutions cannot remain static. An institution that is unmindful of improvement and fails to search for more advantageous methods and means of teaching, fails in its obligation to the prospective teachers and to the whole of present day society. Maintenance and improvement of teacher training standards must not be done merely for the sake of progress per se, but, in answer to a progressive society.
