Abstract
It has been established by previous research, that the nurse has been exposed to the principles of continuity of care in her nursing education, and should be able to recognize the need of a specific patient for referral for continuity of care. However, Slamkowski and Kennedy report a general lack of appreciation by nursing students for the use of community resources in continuing patient care.
