Abstract

"Confirmation is a sacrament by which we receive the Holy Ghost, in order to make us strong and perfect Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ." This definition of long standing has colored the meaning of Confirmation to such an extent that 20th century man not only loses the significance of the sacrament, but does not care about it.

The purpose of this essay is to explore the meaning of Confirmation in Scripture and in history and then apply this meaning to the man of today.
