Abstract
The United States Congress, in October of 1972, enacted Public Law 92- 500, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments. Under the provisions of this act, the United States Environmental Protection Agency was directed not to approve any grant requests for wastewater treatment facilities after July 1, 1973, unless the grant applicant showed that each sewer collection system discharging into such treatment facility is not subject to excessive infiltration/inflow.
