Abstract
The task of the Catholic Church today, having received renewed impetus at Vatican II, is again to be sent forth on the mission of the Son to all humankind, to become a world church loosened from moorings as a Western church. New perspectives and world-consciousness emerged from the Council debates and documents that called forth willingness to dialogue within and without the Church in order to remain open for reform and conversion, for development, for union with differences.
This paper will consider two areas in which the Synod laid out new formulations for the future , at this time which Karl Hahner proposes to be a new epoch in the Church's history, a new historical and theological situation. The anthropological and scriptural orientations will be related to selected observations for moral theology.
