Abstract
The material presented in this report will show that the amount of money expended for providing mass transit for the Milwaukee County area over the period 1965 to 1975 was significantly less than the money spent on other typical public services over the same period.
An in-depth look into the functions and the costs of selected typical public services and of mass transit has been made.
Emphasis was placed on the comparison between the cost of each of the selected public services and the cost of mass transit.
Finally, an illustration was presented showing what percentage of the public service dollar was spent on each of the selected public services when mass transit is considered as a public service.
