Abstract
Ernest Hemingway, who took his own life, once said, "The worst death for anyone is to lose the center of his being, the thing he really is" {Weir, 1977, 390).
Most people live their lives until they die of old age, disease, accident, homicide, or natural causes. Others choose to end their lives deliberately, for a variety of reasons. This Essay is about people choosing their own demise, and the ramifications of suicide before, during and after the event.
This Essay is dedicated to B.C. whose suicide inspired me to learn everything I could about the subject, and then to write about it so that others might benefit and go on to learn even more.
