Abstract
In order to study the response of a material to to impact fore.es, it is necessary to develop mathematical equations relating force to deformation. Analytical modeling of deformation can be described by the use of viscoelastic discrete models. This chapter discusses the appropriate applications, data limitations, and generalizations of discrete model analysis to increase understanding of the load-deflection behavior of materials. Bland (4) and Flugge (10) give further mathematical derivations of the viscoelastic models.
