Abstract
Though John 7-8 has been the subject of an extremely complicated composition theory, these chapters, in some respects, are a self-contained unit. Having remarked that it was the time of the feast of Tabernacles (7:2), John reports that Jesus went up into the Temple and taught (7:14), and he ends chapter 8 by stating that Jesus went out of the Temple (8:59). And several times John mentions that the discourses in chaps. 7-8 were given at the Temple (7:14, 28; 8:2, 20).
