Abstract
Although remuneration of teachers on the basis of relative merit has been publicized greatly for several years, the issue remains unresolved. Even a cursory inspection of present discussion and deliberation concerning teachers' salaries leads to a realization that conditions or are right for creative thinking and research on this important aspect of American education.
