Abstract
Highway pavements represent structures which gradually deteriorate from traffic loads and climatic conditions. Advance signs of impending failure are possible and most highway agencies collect pavement condition data on a regular basis. Since regular pavement maintenance can slow the rate of deterioration and reduce the severity of defects, the major purpose of collecting data is to manage pavement maintenance and develop optimum maintenance strategies.
