Abstract
The ministry of the word in the Church, of which catechesis is one form, has, for at least a decade, been characterized by change, revision, and renewal aimed at contributing to technological man's knowledge of, belief in, and commitment to God. It has been an area fraught with tension and anxiety, failure and success. Certainly, one thing has become ·evident: there are manifold difficulties in bringing the Good News of Jesus to the men of our age, not to mention future generations! Nevertheless we are called upon to devise techniques to accomplish this mission. One aid recently provided for this task is the General Catechetical Directory.
