Abstract
Each September junior and senior high school mathematics teachers await assignment of classes. Some do so with the assurance of the experienced senior teacher; some with the fear and trepidation of the inexperienced. Often as assignments are made known comments are heard. "Who's got them this year?" "Are you stuck with the 'dumb bunnies'?" "How many z-groups do you have?" "You lucky thing, all honors classes!" Then begins the tips, the suggestions, the advice, and such forms of consolation to those teachers who find themselves facing the task of educating the "terminal student" or "the non-academic student" or the non-collegebound student" or the "slow learner", whatever his title may be in the particular school system
