Abstract
Children are a nation's greatest asset. Even though their potentials are in the future, they are the most precious backbone of any nation. Nations are dependent upon mankind and mankind is dependent upon children. This dependency is perpetual in that children are the most important and only resource for all human endeavors. Mankind needs children not only for the maintenance of the species but also for "continued social evolution." Children must thrive in order that mankind may survive. Thus, if one generation fails to promote the optimal development of children, mankind suffers. Each generation should be concerned with the health of children and with the illnesses which affect their growth and development because the child is man's only access to the future. Today's focus is no longer on the survival of an individual child but on the optimal growth and wellbeing for the future adult. A profound concern must be with everything that goes to make the final product--a healthy adult ready to take his place in society.
