Abstract
The elementary school principal has an important and key role to play in the reading program of the elementary school. She gives the leadership, interprets the objectives, and supports with her enthusiasm. The success or failure of a good reading program depends greatly upon her. This role is an extremely difficult one as well as a responsible one. Unless the principal is willing to assume this responsibility, the school will never have a sound and unified reading program because it is she alone who can win the support of all concerned.
