Abstract
Just as university and college enrollments have increased in recent years, so have the problems of students who are enrolled therein and who must share or accept completely the burden of college cost. Many advances have occurred during the past fourteen years to assure more people of a college education. Among these are the G. I. Bill educational benefits for servicemen; an increase in the number of student loans; and, more adequate scholarships. Despite these factors, Census Bureau reports have indicated that an increasing number of young people were relying on part-time employment to assure the completion of their college objectives. The college careers of these student-employees were affected in various ways. Little research has been carried out on this subject since the end of World War II.
