Abstract

Attitudes are important determiners of individual and collective aspirations, hopes, and ideals. They determine not only the goals of the individual and the society, but the means and methods whereby these goals are to be attained. The opinions of youth are extremely important and merit intensive investigation. The views of high school students as such may or may not be important, but when the educator remembers that the teen-age population reflects at least to a considerable extent the thoughts of the older generation- their parents, teachers, and elders in general, he finds that this fact adds such significance to the picture that the high school pupils may well represent something like a cross section of the public opinion as a whole.
