Abstract
The topic of physical education has always received more attention when a country becomes concerned about its strength and national defense. The importance of physical education was given nation-wide attention during World War II and the Korean conflict. The Army was very concerned about the number of men rejected by the draft due to physical disabilities. There were many articles written and questions raised about the physical condition of American youth and the training they received.
