Abstract
In the child, interest is a potent factor and a valuable drive in learning; to the educator it is a key, an index, and a guide in teaching. What may be said of interest in general is particularly true of reading interests. Since permanent reading habits are built on practical reading interest, educators have striven to discover these interests which vary according to age, sex, intelligence and locality; and to stimulate them by effective direction . into wholesome channels.
