Abstract
Social promotion, often referred to as automatic or administrative promotion, has been dealt with in the research literature by administrators, psychologists and consultants. However, in my investigation I have found no studies in regards to teachers' opinions relative to the social promotion procedure. The idea of promoting or promotion is not considered by the writer the same within the elementary and junior high schools as that of promotion within industry and business. Individual situations are different and all.the consequences of promoting or not promoting are not considered to be related within these two areas of concern. Therefore, a comparative study of these two groups, the educational with the work of the industrial or business, was eliminated from this study.
