Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the opinions of a group of students, directed toward independent study in an experimental program, and those of a control group pursuing conventional class work with respect to the value of their educational experiences. The students whose opinion was sought had finished four years of study at Marquette University. The experiment, in which they had participated as freshmen or sophomores, was begun at Marquette in the Fall of 1956 and continued for three semesters under a grant from the Fund for the Advancement of Education.
