Abstract
Since reading instruction is receiving more than its share of criticism in our times, it is well to examine our techniques and evaluate our materials and approaches to the reading task. Emphasis is being given to an individualized approach to the teaching of reading as opposed to the basal-text approach. Since learning to read is an individual matter, an attempt is being made to reach the individual child and to provide him with the aids he specifically needs in order to develop his reading potentialities.
