Abstract
From the paradoxes of Zeno in the times of antiquity, the concept of infinity has plagued and challenged man. In the last decade of the 19th century, Georg Cantor devised a theory of sets in an attempt to provide a systematic treatment of the infinite. Today the search continues, but rests heavily upon Cantor's work .
